LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS

The Colorado Rural Health Center administers the Marva Jean Jackson Rural Community Health Scholarship Program. These scholarships are intended to match rural community programs that support health care training and education for people from their community. This program provides $1,000 scholarships to students looking to further their medical, pharmacy, or dental skills. FINANCIAL AID RESOURCES FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS

There are four major sources of financial aid for health care professions students in Colorado: Federal government, state government, institution based, and private sector.

Federal and state government scholarships and loans include: Pell Grants, Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants, Work Study Programs, Perkins Loans, Title 7 Loans, and Federal Nursing Loans. Many loans can act as grants, as they may be forgiven once practicing in a health care profession.

Institution based, and private sector grants and loans differ among companies and organizations. Private companies often focus on one area to give grants and some may focus on providing grants for health care professions training.
