CCHN’s legislative priorities reflect the needs of Colorado’s 14 CHCs and the patients they serve. Legislative priorities are set annually by the CCHN Board of Directors and its legislative sub-committee.
We advocate for policies that will increase access to health care for the medically underserved, including recipients of Medicaid and CHP+ and those who are uninsured or underinsured. We also advocate for policies that will support Community Health Centers in their role as the largest, proven primary health care system in the state
Colorado’s General Assembly (legislature) meets January – May each year. During the 2008 legislative session, CCHN is focusing our policy efforts on the following priority areas:
- Maintaining services and resources currently provided by Community Health Centers,
- Participating in health care reform efforts to increase access to comprehensive primary heath care for all Coloradans,
- Increasing funding necessary to expand access to health care, and
- Monitoring efforts to implement quality, medical home, and coverage goals of SB07-130 and SB07-211.
