Community Health Centers are federally designated entities that provide comprehensive primary care services regardless of ability to pay.  CHCs also provide access to dental and mental health services. CHCs have been around for over 40 years.  In fact, the second oldest health center is here in Colorado – Denver Health Family Health Center.

CHCs are nonprofit or public health care providers with a mission to provide comprehensive primary health care to low income working families. In 2008, Colorado’s CHCs provided more than 1.7 million visits, including medical, dental, and mental health, to more than 419,000 patients. More than 176,000 Colorado children received primary health care from CHCs in 2008.

15 CHCs operate over 138 clinic sites in 35 Colorado counties and care for patients living in 54 counties. 13 CHCs operate 37 dental clinic sites in 21 Colorado counties and provided over 175,000 visits to more than 76,000 patients in 2008.
