These projects fill a significant gap in the delivery of health care services to medically underserved individuals specific to breast cancers.
- The Healthy Woman Outreach Project (HWOP) helps improve CHC patients’ health by increasing access to breast health care. HWOP provides free breast health and cancer education, screening, diagnostic, navigation and treatment support services to low-income, under or uninsured CHC patients. The primary strength of the project is its ability to provide comprehensive breast health care services to a large number of underserved women and men through the existing CHC system. HWOP is funded by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Denver Metropolitan Affiliate.
- The Breast and Women’s Reproductive Cancers Project (BWRC) is funded by the Colorado Cancer Coalition from funds received from the state tax form line 44. BWRC increases access to breast health care to patients who do not qualify for Women’s Wellness Connection and where no other funding, such as Komen, is available.
